Posted by Elyse Moody 8:45 PM on Jun 08, 2009

United Airlines is outfitting its international first and business class cabins with new lie-flat seats and 15-in. seatback TV screens, and you can watch the transformation take place in less than 2 minutes. Check out United's time-lapsed footage of the upgrade:

The airline's updated 747s feature 12 United First Suites and 52 of the business lie-flat bed seats. Its 767s and 777s will also receive the treatment in various configurations. You can see the planned seat maps here, along with routes where the aircraft will fly.

United has finished outfitting 21 767s, and it estimates that its 747s will be complete by October--it plans to redesign 24 747 aircraft in total. Reconfiguration of 47 777s is slated to begin this year.
