A lot of aviation organizations use the word "partnership." I'm not going to argue the definition of that word when it comes to companies and organizations working together--because I think the range is vast--but as entities around the world work collaboratively together, real benefits can occur. This point jumped out at me after seeing that the U.S. Navy Fleet Readiness Center Southeast received an award for its business achievements. The FRCSE in Jacksonville, Fla., participates in 38 public-private partnerships. Some of its new industrial processes include precision measuring machines and 5-axis milling centers that can restore a part or make one-of-a-kind components "new."
