Virgin Atlantic selected Taikoo (Xiamen) Aircraft Engineering Co. (TAECO), which is part of the HAECO family, for Boeing 747-400 D checks. The parties signed the four-year agreement on Jan. 31. TAECO has been providing heavy maintenance for Virgin since 2009, as well as some major cabin reconfigurations. "We look forward to their (TAECO) support for the remaining period of Boeing 747-400 service at VAA," said Phil Maher, the company's director of engineering. I guess it sound like we should expect Virgin to retire its 747-400s in early 2017.
