Delta has published its 2010 corporate responsibility report, highlighting performance in several key areas, including environmental and safety. Among the interesting MRO-related tidbits:The carrier expanded its engine wash program, adding 2.5 million in fuel savings.Delta installed winglets on 50 aircraft as part of an ongoing plan to save 50 million gallons of fuel per year.Delta replaced over 380,000 square feet of roof at Delta’s Technical Operations Center in Atlanta with white thermoplastic polyolefin roofing material, saving some 165,000 kWh of annual energy use.Delta also swapped out lighting fixtures in two Tech Ops hangars, generating another 1,802 metric tons of CO2 savings—equivalent to the annual emissions of 355 passenger vehicles, according to the carrier.Delta also noted that its most fuel-efficient aircraft is the 757-300, which files passengers more than 70 miles on a gallon of fuel.
