The FAA issued two ADs on Aug. 30 and 31.
The first is a modification to a previous AD concerning Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft. It requires inspection of the APU generator filter system for signs of debris, which the FAA said could lead to structural damage and generator failure. It takes effect Sept. 14
The second supersedes an exisiting AD for PW JT9D-7R4 turbofan engines. It maintains required inspections of the blade root thickness of first stage fan blades but corrects 12 p/ns, adds 10 part SNs and adds the definition of next fan blade exposure to compliance requirements. The AD intends to prevent first stage fan blade fracture and uncontained engine failure and takes effect Oct. 5.
