Finalists for the 2011 Crystal Cabin awards include a touchless waste bin flap, an airbone hotel system concept, a lavatory module with a separate washroom, slim lights, lighter fiber materials, and new seat-belt concepts.
Several lighter and more comfortable seating concepts made it onto the top list, including innovations from Acro Aircraft Seating, Boeing, and Recaro.
The entry that really caught my eye is this student-submitted finalist: it's an “airgonomic” interior concept -- an integrated high-tech gel providing higher seating comfort.

I love the orange, and the concept of high-tech gel seating sounds intriguing. (It makes me think of the Dr. Scholls commercials -- "are you gellin'?)
What do you think? Is this a radical concept that could work in practice? How would airlines maintain this material?
