The airline spare markets market is dynamic, to say the least. Some of my supplier and OEM sources lose sleep wondering how much longer young aircraft will be worth more for their parts than their whole. Suppliers are also wondering what to do with older inventory.

The fact is that airline and suppliers are managing their inventory smarter.

Today CIT Group announced it arranged a $125 million credit facility for AJ Walter Aviation, which will use the money to buy more spare parts. The million dollar question, or $125 million question to be precise, is which parts will AJ Walter buy? I’m trying to find out, of course.

In other parts news, STS Component Solutions purchased its first CFM56-7B engine for disassembly. An STS spokesperson told me that a facility in Miami just finished disassembling the engine and the individual components are being recertified at FAA repair stations. So, except more CFM56-7B engine spare parts to be available soon.
