  • Unusual Aircraft Tug Spotted In Milan

    Most airports that use tugs tend to use one of two types--a standard tow-bar attached to the nosewheel door, or a unit that attaches the nosewheel to a high-speed tug. This latter type is popular at some of the major European aiports. However there is another type, and this involves what appears to be a remotely controlled unit fixed to one of the main landing gears, that then drives the aircraft away from the gate and onto the taxiway. Milan's Malpensa utilizes this system for some flights, and one is pictured below.
