  • ARSA Quantifies, Breaks Down U.S. MRO Economy
Posted by Sean Broderick 1:03 PM on Mar 27, 2013

A new ARSA-commissioned study on MRO economics spit out some pretty interesting data on the U.S. aviation maintenance market.

The study (.pdf) reports that MRO and related support services (e.g., parts manufacturing) in the U.S. generated about $47 billion in total economic activity last year, roughly split between hands-on MRO work and support services.

MRO also supports 306,000 jobs, including 196,000 at Part 145 certificated repair stations and another 44,800 air carrier base and line mechanics.

The study, done by ICF SH&E, includes a state-by-state breakdown of MRO activity and employment figures. The report says that 14 states generated more than $1 billion in MRO economic activity last year. California ($5.01 billion) led the way.
