News Round-up: The NBAA 2011 Edition

CBC News exposes the private aviation habits of Canadian Defense Minister Peter MacKay. "Defence Minister Peter MacKay has spent hundreds of hours and millions of dollars on Challenger jets since 2009, according to flight logs, with one trip costing more than $200,000," it writes.

Pipistrel-USA.com has won NASA's $1.35 million prize for developing an electric-powered plane, reports CNN.  The State College, Pa.-based company beat out 13 other contenders

The Uncrunched blog posts about how Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh has invested $7 million in private jet service provider JetSuite, which flies a fleet of Embraer Phenom 100s.  And the New York Times reports on how bulldog owners are looking to private aviation to fly their pets after most commercial airlines banned them.
