Promising, “ABACE will be to Asia what EBACE is to Europe,” NBAA President Ed Bolen announced today at the latter that the Asian Business Aviation Convention & Exhibitioin will be held March 27-29, 2012, in Shanghai. And to underscore his conviction, he said he’d signed an exclusive agreement with the Shanghai Airport Authority to hold the event there for the first five years.
Those dates have shifted by a month once NBAA, its partner, the Asian Business Aviation Association, along with potential exhibitors, decided the event’s schedule needn’t be tied to the Singapore Air Show’s, which was to closely precede it.
ABACE 2012 will be held at Hawker Pacific’s new facility, but Bolen said there are plans to build a conference center at the Shanghai Airport, which could accommodate future shows.
The NBAA leader said the organizers planned to begin collecting signed contracts for the Asian show this week at the Geneva gathering.
The Aviation Week group, which publishes Business & Commercial Aviation, will be the Official International Media Sponsor for the show.
