This year’s NBAA conference and convention will mark the 20th anniversary of the Honeywell Business Aviation Forecast. They are already starting to collect the data and the process will take three to four months. Dubbed “The Gold Standard” for the business aviation industry by the Financial Times, the now powerful survey began life in 1980 as an internal marketing tool. In 1991, AlliedSignal chose to make it public for the first time. The attendance at the first briefing at an NBAA in Dallas was about 28 people, mostly from AlliedSignal. Among the few business aviation journalists present were The Weekly of Business Aviation’s Kerry Lynch and David Collogan, who both remarked, “You know, this is really some valuable data.” The rest is history.
