The Jet Business
PiperJet Altaire Mockup Debut
Started off promptly at 8 a.m. with Bill Boisture from Hawker Beechcraft explaining how the company will emerge from bankruptcy in 2013. It is jarring to think that there is a possibility that the Hawker business jets may be no more if a buyer(s) doesn't step up. (Make sure that you check in with ShowNews for all the details) Boeing was happy to announce the new BBJ MAX 8 and MAX 9. Capt. Steve Taylor was there to explain the extended ranges of these aircraft. He also say that he took a greenie BBJ with seven Pats tanks from L.A. to Auckland in 13 hours and 7 minutes (5,658 nm) What a haul. Sales of aircraft for 2012 have been flat but they are busy delivering 747 VIP aircraft. The BBJ was also voted the "Most Wished" aircraft in a survey done by an industry pub. Tayor noted that "yes, there definitely is a market for a 7,000+ aircraft." With the extended ranges of these new BBJ's, they are almost there. Dassualt Falcon talked about the 2000S and the rest of the Falcon Jet family and had a great video showing the installation of a med vac interior. Safe Flight talked about their Auto Power System on the Hawker series. The weight increase on the Hawker is only 25 lb. (Check at their booth or ShowNews for complete details.) Stay tuned. It's only the first morning and the show hasn't open yet.
