    Check out Aviation Week's technology blog, Leading Edge, to see a Stanford University video of a micro air vehicle that can land and cling to a vertical wall, providing a relatively uncluttered and unobtrustive place from which to maintain surveillance.

    Others are developing MAVs that can perch and stare on horizontal surfaces like power lines, or can land and crawl over flat ground and small obstacles, but Stanford wants to develop a vehicle that can perch and crawl on any surface, from horizontal to vertical.
