During a meeting at the Polish army training center in Posen today, German Defense Minister Thomas de Maizière and Polish Defense Minister Tomasz Siemoniak signed a contract for Poland to receive 105 Leopard 2A5s, 14 Leopard 2A4s, 18 Bergepanzer 2 armored recovery vehicles, 200 trucks and associated equipment from Germany.
The Polish army already has 128 Leopard 2A4s operated over the last 10 years by its 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade.
De Maizière said the contract is not just about "equipment and lots of steel" but that the tanks "now serve our joint work and link in NATO."
