  • France, U.S. Dominate Libya Air Strikes
Posted by Robert Wall 2:34 PM on Aug 23, 2011

With the fighting in Libya now shifting largely to Tripoli, the Atlantic Council has compiled an interesting tally of what air forces contributed most to the NATO air operation.

According to the blog entry here, the French air force and navy conducted the most strike sorties, followed by the U.S.

Many of the other air forces involved come in around 10%. The U.K. has been very defensive about its level of effort, frequently rebutting challenges that the French are doing more with claims that the U.K. effect provided by RAF strikes has been above average.

It will require a detailed after-action report to sort out the details of what is claimed.
