  • Pakistan Says Shamsi Shutdown for U.S.
Posted by Robert Wall 12:48 PM on Dec 12, 2011

The Pakistani military says the U.S. has now vacated the Shamsi airbase, which had served as a staging ground for Reaper unmanned aircraft operations.

The Pakistani government forced the shutdown after an incident along the Afghanistan/Pakistan border when a NATO helicopter attacked a Pakistani base, causing casualties.

Here are two pictures of the secretive facility the Pakistani military has now released, including the last C-17 departing.
