  • Red Arrow Crash, Fleet Grounded (updated)
Posted by Robert Wall 1:18 PM on Aug 20, 2011

The RAF has lost one of nine Red Arrows participating in an air show near Bournemouth.

It is the second Red Arrow crash in as many years, with two of the Hawk trainers colliding mid-air last year. That incident occurred during training.

The crash killed the pilot. Flt. Lt. Jon Eggin was flying Arrow 4 when the aircraft crashed at 13:50 local time.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the accident and, for now, the Red Arrow fleet has been grounded.
