Following on from posts earlier this week that French industry is optimistic that export sales of the Rafale fighter aircraft are imminent, French Defense Minister Hervé Morin told French TV station LCI yesterday that “we are currently in extremely advanced discussions with a certain number of countries which, I hope, will be concluded in the next few weeks.” He did not specify that these discussions were about the Rafale; he was talking about French defense exports in general. “We had set ourselves an export target of €6 billion for 2008. We more than met expectations: the figure is €6.3 billion.”
