Qatar is interested in buying up to 200 Leopard 2 tanks worth some two billion euros ($2.45 billion), the German news magazine Spiegel reports.

The deal is supported by Germany's chancellory and economics ministry, according to Spiegel. A delegation from Krauss-Maffei Wegmann reportedly visited Qatar to discuss a possible sale of the tanks.

Saudi Arabia is reported to be interested in buying as many as 800 Leopard 2s.

Spiegel also cites a Jakarta Post story about Indonesia wanting to buy 100 used Leopard 2s from Bundeswehr stocks.
