The Danish air force early next year expects to take delivery of the first of its upgraded Lockheed Martin Lantirn targeting pods.

The $20 million Lantirn Extended Range program should provide enhanced imagery and deliver greater accuracy.

The program was initially for 13 pods, but has now grown to include to deliver 16 Lantirn ERs for the Danish air force’s F-16s.

The upgrade will eventually allow the Danes also to link the Lantirn imagery to ground troops.
