French aerospace giant Dassault Aviation says Eric Trappier will replace retiring Chairman and Chief Executive Charles Edelstenne, who is slated to step down Jan. 8. As Dassault executive vice president international, Trappier is credited with successfully negotiating the six-nation Neuron UCAV technology demonstrator and leading the sale of 126 Rafale fighter jets to India. He will be assisted by Loik Segalen as the company's chief operating officer. Segalen is currently Dassault's director general of economic and social affairs. The decision was announced Dec. 18 following a noon meeting of Dassault's board of directors. Edelstenne, who has served at the company's helm for the past 12 years, remains director of Dassault and will join its audit committee.
