Two Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) F-16s yesterday intercepted two Russian Tu-95 Bear bombers which were flying in airspace under Dutch responsibility without identifying themselves. Dutch Ministry of Defense photo Air Operations Control Station Nieuw Milligen sent the F-16s from Volkel air base to visually identify the Bears and escort them out of their airspace, together with two Luftwaffe F-4F Phantom IIs. Afterwards, the British Royal Air Force took over the escort duties.
