  • Saab Rebuttal to Norway
Posted by Robert Wall 10:18 AM on Dec 10, 2008

To follow up on Bill’s discussion on Saab and the Norwegian fighter program, today the Swedish contractor has formally issued its response to losing in Norway to the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

It’s not so much about sour grapes, but clearly there are concerns at Saab about what the Norwegians have been saying about Gripen and the fear those comments could tarnish Gripen’s reputation as it pursues several other competitions.

In essence, Saab argues that Norway didn’t accurately reflect Gripen’s operational capabilities in simulations and life-cycle cost estimates were based not on in-service experience but Oslo’s own assumptions.

You can read the Saab argument here.
