The covering is designed to suppress the vehicle's radar and thermal signature, as well as providing camouflage to reduce the visual signature. With hostile forces increasingly having access to IR sensors, thermal signature suppression is seen as particularly vital.BAE Systems says the material is tough enough to withstand the harsh operating environments it would have to be used in.
