The B-52 mothership was preparing to take off from Edwards AFB, Calif., with the X-51A under its wing when a Navy P-3 scanning the Pacific Ocean test range for traffic spotted the freighter in international waters, steaming along under restricted airspace in the vicinity of the X-51A's splashdown zone.

The flight was postponed 24 hours, to around 09.00 Pacific time Wednesday (May 26) - weather permitting.
