AgustaWestland has unveiled a full-scale mockup of the TUHP 149, a version of the still-to-be-flown AW149 being offered for the Turkish Utility Helicopter Program. The 8.1-ton medium multi-role helicopter faces competition from the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk for the expected 84-aircraft contact. The AW149 is due to fly this year. Artwork: AgustaWestlandThe proposed TUHP 149 program would involve local industry, including Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), Aselsan, Havelsan, Roketsan and Tusas Engine Industries (TEI). This would build on the ATAK program, under which TAI will build 51 AgustaWestland AW129 attack helicopters as the T-129, with TEI producing the CTS800 engines. TAI is already building fuselages for the AW139 commercial helicopter.
