Airbus Military has undertaken further cold weather trials of the A400M military airlifter.(Photo: Airbus Military)One of the flight test airlifters -- MSN2 -- has made an excursion to Kiruna, Sweden for four days of intense weather testing. The airlifter was expected to brave up to -21 deg. C temperatures, enough to check off the appropriate test points. An initial set of testing was conducted in Hamburg in December and more severe temperatures will be sought in later trials with a return visit to Sweden and other locations. The flight test program -- that now involves four aircraft -- has been running ahead of schedule, although the pace of some of the contractual activity with the seven core buyers remains slow.
