Lockheed Martin laid the keel on the third littoral combat ship (LCS), the Fort Worth, on July 11. It's the second ship Lockheed has built as part of the LCS program, and the first under a fixed-price contract. The Fort Worth will be delivered in 2012. The first ship, the USS Freedom, was commissioned in Milwaukee by the Navy in November 2008.
