It's now official: the reduction in Puma armored infantry fighting vehicle production I reported in the June issue of DTI is now included in an amendment to the original contract for 405 serial production models. Bundeswehr photo The amendment with Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann was signed today by German ministry of defense state secretary Stéphane Beemelmans. Now only 350 Pumas will be delivered to the Bundeswehr by 2020. The intensive technical trials with the first production models already delivered will be extended by another nine months for completion next year. Deliveries of production models have also been delayed to 2014, according to the German ministry of defense.
