Lockheed Martin has released video of the August 2 first flight of its contender for the US Army-led Joint Air-to-Ground Missile (JAGM) program to replace the Hellfire, TOW and Maverick. The competing Raytheon-Boeing team conducted its first flight in April (video here).Video: Lockheed MartinLockheed says the "tactically configured" JAGM was launched from a static rail and guided by semi-active laser (SAL) sensor to a direct hit on a static target 16km away - the required maximum range when launched from a rotary-wing platform. While the SAL sensor did the work, the tri-mode seeker's imaging-infrared and millimeter-wave modes collected data during the flight, the company says.A winner is expected to be announced by year-end.
