After much delay, France has finally gotten the green light from the Italian government to relocate some of its Rafale strike fighters operating over Libya to Sigonella, Sicily.Rafales had been operating from Solenzara, Corsica -- which had been given the nickname Rafaletown once the Mirage 2000s decamped. But the French air force wanted to move the operations closer to Libya to reduce transit time and mission duration. The initial deployment is of five Rafales. The French air force now joins forces from Denmark, Sweden, Canada, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Italy and the U.S. at Sigonella.
