Whether the U.S. Navy decides to deploy the first Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), Freedom, early or not, the benefits will belong to Lockheed Martin. If things don't go smoothly, Lockheed can say "lessons learned" and prepare better for the first real deployment of the ship. Right now the biggest challenge seems to be figuring out how to supply the ship when it's under way. If things go well, then things go well and everybody's happy.
