Last night I saw the new Avengers 3D movie and was interested to see that the JSF was one of the aircraft featured. Operating from an airborne aircraft carrier, along with AV-8B Harrier IIs and what looked to me like AlphaJets, the JSFs are unwitting villains of the movie and a couple are destroyed by Avengers and one that gets away makes an unsuccessful launch of a nuke at New York City to save it from attacking aliens. The JSF is set to star in at least one more Hollywood movie. I only discovered a couple of days ago that Tom Cruise will play a JSF test pilot in Top Gun 2 and Stephen Trimble of the DEW Line imagines an alternative plot featuring Bill Sweetman and a JSF landing vertically on Aviation Week's building in Washington, D.C.
