A Royal Danish Air Force C-130J transport aircraft is supporting French Operation Serval in Mali. Following approval by the Folketing, the Danish parliament, on 15 January, the aircraft picked up supplies in Bordeaux yesterday and continued to Mali today.

The 40-strong Danish contingent consists of crews, support personnel and liaison officers.
The Folketing did not place any restrictions on how the C-130J can be used or from where it can land or take off, so France can assign its missions. Initially, it will fly supplies from France to Mali and then operate in Mali and other countries in the region, including Chad. Its parliamentary mandate is for a deployment of up to three months.
