  • Market Looking Up for Airbus Military
Posted by Christina Mackenzie 3:29 AM on May 21, 2012

With 24 aircraft sold so far this year, things are looking up for Airbus Military after hitting an all-time low last year when the company sold just five in a market described by Antonio Rodriguez Barberán, senior vice president- commercial, as "very irregular, subject to frequent ups and downs!"

He says that sales are being made in "emerging markets," adding that this "is what we were betting on." The latest contract was signed on May 19 with the Royal Air Force of Oman for eight C295 aircraft—five configured as tactical transports and three as maritime patrol aircraft. Deliveries will begin next year.

The Royal Oman Police already operates two Airbus Military  CN235s.
