Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo is making its first flight as I post this blog. The space vehicle, attached to the White Knight Two mothership, took off from Mojave, Calif., just after 7 a.m. local time for its initial captive-carriage test. More details and photographs are expected soon. The combination made its first appearance at the Virgin Galactic roll-out event on Dec. 7 last year, and envelope expansion flight tests of the pylon attachment used for carrying SS2 were conducted in January.
