  • Curiosity - first photos of the crater rim
Posted by Guy Norris 3:04 AM on Aug 06, 2012

As the press conference finished around 1am Pacific time, Odyssey was starting to relay more imagery back from Curiosity. Although raw and far from the higher fidelity images NASA expects to be getting from the rover, these are fascinating first hints at the images of the walls of the vast Gale Crater into which the spacecraft descended. Given the wide-angle lens used for these images, one can only imagine what the later shots could be like.
