Mission managers have scrubbed today's planned launch of the space shuttle Endeavour on a 16-day assembly mission to the International Space Station.

A series of lightning strikes hit near Pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center last night, and managers want to give engineers more time to assess whether there was any damage to Endeavour or critical ground systems.

A briefing on the way forward is scheduled for 11 a.m. EDT
