  • Ice or rock?

Is this ice or rock beneath the Phoenix Mars Lander? Mission scientists are pretty excited about the images that came down overnight from the robotic camera which peered underneath the lander to check out the underside of the spacecraft. It is speculated the object(s) were uncovered by the blast of the thrusters on the spacecraft as it settled. Unfortunately the arm itself can't reach the object so NASA hopes the answer will be derived from analyzing the light spectra. Here's the image - what do you think? The suspect area is in the top right.
