ROPS assists crews in making go-around decisions and safe on-runway stops by combining real-time information, such as weather and aircraft configuration, with airfield characteristics. The system generates basic alerts to help pilots with decision-making.

EASA’s bulletin reminds pilots that  “a go-around decision is the safer solution to a non-stabilized approach, and that landing could be more difficult with overspeed, contaminated runway, and under tail wind conditions.” It also urges A320-family operators with legacy FMGCs to upgrade their avionics.
