JetBlue Airways CEO Dave Barger says he cannot rule out the possibility that the New York-based low-cost carrier will acquire widebody aircraft in the future.

“We have not studied widebodies, but we won’t say never,” Barger said at the Body Group International Aviation Forecast Summit in Dallas. “We are the largest domestic carrier at JFK [New York John F. Kennedy International Airport] and can’t rule out widebodies.”

JetBlue currently operates a fleet of 123 Airbus A320 and 52 Embraer 190 aircraft for services within the U.S., the Caribbean and Latin America. The non-domestic network has been growing fast for the New York-based airline, and now accounts for about 30% of its capacity.

The carrier currently offers customers access to long-haul services through a series of interline and code-share partnerships, which Barger says will boost his airline’s passenger traffic by 28.5 million this year and 30 million in 2013.
