Russia’s Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC) has completed the assembly of the first Sukhoi Superjet 100 regional jet intended for delivery to Mexican air carrier Interjet. Flight trials have already started at SCAC’s Komsomolsk-on-Amur assembly facility, and the aircraft is scheduled to arrive in Venice at the end of September to be outfitted with an interior developed by Italian design company Pininfarina and painted in Interjet’s livery.
SuperJet International (SJI), the joint venture between Sukhoi and Alenia Aermacchi responsible for a wide array of SSJ100 sales, training and after-sale support, also plans to train Interjet crews.
In November, SJI also expects to receive a Thales-made, full-flight simulator for its training center in Venice to enable the Mexican carrier’s pilots to start training in January 2013.
Interjet is scheduled to receive its first SSJ100 in March. The airline has 20 of the aircraft on order.
