The opening of Berlin Brandenburg International Airport has been delayed by another six months.
The airport’s board of directors today announced the facility will open Oct. 27, 2013. The most recent revised opening date was March 17, itself an 18-month deferment on the original plan.
This new delay is the result of a review initiated after a June 3 opening was canceled because of flaws in the fire protection system.
The review, called for by the airport’s new chief operating officer, Horst Amann, required all construction to be halted; work is expected to resume in the fall and is scheduled to be completed next summer.
