The Airbus A400M military transport will not fly at the 2012 Farnborough air show in the U.K., Airbus Military confirmed on Thursday. The company says the decision is based on “engine issues that happened last week which need further investigation.” It did not elaborate.

The A400M also did not participate in the flying display at last year’s Paris air show; engine troubles were the cause back then, too.

Airbus is sending the first production standard aircraft, MSN6, to Farnborough. It will be on static display.

The company says flight tests are continuing “at an aggressive pace.” The aircraft is “beginning to show the level of technical maturity required at first delivery.” Airbus concedes there are “some engine maturity challenges,” but says it is confident that “we will find the right solution.”

The A400M has completed 1,180 flights and 3,535 hr. so far. The first three customer aircraft are in final assembly in Seville, Spain.
