Airbus powered up the engines and auxiliary power unit of the first A350-900 on Sunday.
The move comes after the aircraft, MSN001, was handed over to the flight test department several days ago. Airbus says the aircraft will be flying for the first time in the coming weeks without committing to a specific date. However, there have been indications that the aircraft could perform a flyby over the Paris air show, which starts on June 17, but will not land there.
Engine power-up is one of several steps needed to prepare the aircraft for first flight. Among the upcoming tests are also high-speed taxi trials and aborted take-off runs.
