Airbus on June 2 powered up the engines and auxiliary power unit of the first A350-900.
Airbus says the aircraft will be flying for the first time in the coming weeks, without committing to a specific date. There have been indications that the aircraft could perform a flyby over the Paris air show, which starts on June 17. However, it would not land there.
Engine power-up is one of several steps needed to prepare the aircraft for first flight. Upcoming tests include high-speed taxi trials and aborted take-off runs.
